Baseball’s Brian Hurld named NEIBA All-New England

BRISTOL, R.I.Roger Williams senior Brian Hurld (South Boston, Mass.) has been selected to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England Third Team.

 

The senior southpaw finished the 2009 campaign with a team-best 6-1 record, while leading the Hawks in a number of pitching categories. Hurld topped the team in ERA (2.17), innings pitched (54.0), W-L percentage (.857), and walks allowed (8).

 

The 2008 Commonwealth Coast Conference pitcher of the year ranked second in the conference in ERA and tied for fourth in wins with six.

 

Hurld is only one of 13 pitchers to earn 2009 NEIBA All-New England honors and joins Bryan Calzone of Western New England College as the lone pitchers representing the TCCC.

 

Hurld ends his career as a member of the winningest senior class in Roger Williams history with 98 victories during his four years. He has pitched the most innings in school history with 219.1 and ranks second on the RWU all-time wins list with 18.

 

Roger Williams University ended the 2009 season with a record of 21-20-1.
