BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men’s Swimming and Diving team stands in a strong position after the first day of the TCCC Invite. The Hawks have accumulated 265 points, which puts them in great shape with a 183 point lead over the second place team from Colby-Sawyer College.
The 200-yd Medley Relay saw both the Hawks teams placing first and second, with the team of Peter Walerysiak (Bristol, Conn.), Teddy Swanson (Glastonbury, Conn.), Zach Gillespie (New Preston, Conn.), and Michael Nappi (Sherman, Conn.) winning the event. Teammates Austin Kelly (Portland, Conn.) and Kevin Danaher (Watertown, Conn.) would go one-two in the 500-yd freestyle event as well. The Hawks would take first through fifth in impressive fashion in the 50-yd Freestyle, with Phil Jacques (Durham, Maine) winning the event.
The Hawks put on a strong showing in the opening day which relieves a lot of pressure going into Saturday’s events. Competition will resume tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
