BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women’s Tennis team picked up its second win in as many days with an 8-1 victory over Regis College to conclude the regular season.
The Hawks took all three doubles matches, winning one via forfeit. Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) and Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) won 8-3 over Megan McCarthy (Norfolk, Mass.) and Ally Kuchera (Waltham, Mass.), and Kristin Dono (West Boylston, Conn.) and Katelin Richard (West Islip, N.Y.) picked up an 8-0 decision at the second flight over Caitlin Fitzgerald (Lynn, Mass.) and Georgia Cowart (Hopkinton, Mass.).
In singles play, McCarthy defeated Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) 6-1, 6-3 at the first flight to give Regis its only victory of the day. Melissa Perry (Bristol, R.I.) and Paige Cunningham (Wethersfield, Conn.) earned wins at #4 and #5 singles, with respective wins of 6-2, 6-4, and 6-2, 6-1.
Richard’s 6-1, 6-1 win over Fitzgerald at #2 and Libby Magner (Lakefield, Mass.) beating Cowart 6-1, 6-3 at #3 wrapped up the play, as RWU won the sixth flight via default.
Roger Williams (8-5, 8-3 TCCC) has clinched the fifth seed for The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament and will be at the number four seed Western New England College Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Regis (0-11, 0-10 TCCC) finishes its regular season Sunday against Endicott at 11:00 a.m.
