WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Men’s Cross Country team placed 4th out of 23 teams at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State on Saturday in Westfield, Mass. The team finished with 126 points behind Westfield St., Trinity, and the overall winners, UMass-Dartmouth who finished with a total of 72 points. The team finished with an overall time of 2:17:51.32 and an average time of 27:34.27.
The Hawks had a very strong event as ten of the team members placed in the top 100 racers. The team was led by Mitch Leveille (North Kingstown, R.I.) who finished in 4th out of over 250 runners with a time of 26:41.03, and had an average mile time of 5:22.1.
The Hawk’s second finisher came in with a time of 26:56.01, as Jonathan Ellis (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished close behind in 9th place. Coming in third for the Hawks was Thomas Maybury (East Longmeadow, Mass.) as he finished in 22nd with a time of 27:21.24. Next crossing the line for RWU was Andrew Gallant (Merrimac, Mass.) as he came across the finish line in 28:15.52 which was good for 46th place. The fifth member of the Hawks to finish was Jeff Pini (Wellesley, Mass.) in 54th place with a time of 28:37.52. Senior Timothy EynatianChelmsford, Mass.) ( finished in 28:59.96 which placed him 64th. Following behind Eynatian in 78th was Matt Carney (Canton, Mass.) with a time of 29:22.77 as he was the final runner earning points for RWU.
Next up for the Hawks is the Alumni Race on October 24th, after that it’s the TCCC Championships at Western New England College on the 31st.
