Simmons Appointed Cheerleading Coach

Bristol, RI-Director of Athletics George R. Kolb has announced the appointment of Shawn Simmons of Newport as coach of the cheerleading squad.

 

Simmons has been involved with cheerleading for a number of years. As a performer, he was a three-time All-American at L.W. Higgins High School and also starred for two seasons at the University of Rhode Island. He has coached youth squads in Middletown and most recently was the coach at Rogers High School for the past two seasons. At Middletown, he led his squads to a first place finish in the state competition and a third place performance in the district competition. He also has experience with collegiate level teams, having coached at the Naval Academy Prep School.

He is employed at the Pampered Chef and is earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Roger Williams University this year.

“Shawn has been heavily involved with programs at all levels,” said Kolb. “He has had great success both as a competitor and coach and we are excited that he will be directing our program.”
