GORHAM, Maine – The RWU Hawks Wrestling Team split its dual meets Sunday in Gorham, Maine, where they fell, 20-15, to No. 30 Rhode Island College before defeating the host University of Southern Maine, 19-17. USM upset RIC, 23-21, in the day’s third match.

BRISTOL, RI — Roger Williams University wrestling freshman Philip Ernst (Succasunna, N.J.) was named Pilgrim League Rookie of the Week and RWU Male Athlete of the Week for his 2-0 individual record in the NEWA-Metro Conference Challenge Duals this past weekend.

BRISTOL, R.I. – The RWU Wrestling team posted a strong 2-1 showing at the NEWA-Metro Conference Challenge Duals in Williamstown, Mass., defeating both Hunter College and NYU while falling to No. 11 The College of New Jersey. This marks the first time in seven years the Hawks have gone 2-1 in the event and the first time in eight years since defeating NYU.

Bridgewater, Mass. – In Pilgrim Wrestling League action, the Roger Williams Hawks earned a 31-16 victory over the Bridgewater State College Bears Tuesday at BSC's Kelly Gymnasium. With the dual meet victory, Roger Williams improves to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the Pilgrim League, while Bridgewater dips to 5-10 on the season and 2-2 in league matches.

The Hawks finished with a 2-2 record on the day, defeating Western New England College and Southern Maine, while falling to Springfield College and Wesleyan University. Top-seeded Williams College defeated Johnson & Wales to win the championship.

BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University junior Nick Cambi (Cohasset, Mass.) of the Wrestling team has been named the RWU Male Athlete of the Week for his undefeated performance in their tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 15th. He won his first match against Wesleyan University by a final of 3-1 before posting a 6-1 decision over his opponent from Trinity College.

Women's Basketball
BRISTOL, R.I. - Ryan Weekes’ (Worcester, Mass.) excellent performance this past week has gained her the recognition of RWU Female Athlete of the Week. As a sophomore guard on the Women’s Basketball Team, Weekes posted strong stats in games against Salve Regina and The University of New England.
Wednesday night at Salve Regina Weeks put up a career-high 22 points for the Hawks and also recorded a team-high nine rebounds. She sank two clutch free throws with just 21 seconds remaining to bring the Hawks to within one, but a talented Seahawks team pulled out the victory in the end.
The Nor’easters of New England were another challenge for the Hawks, but Weekes got the team rolling with a jumper within the first six seconds of the game. She went on to lead the team with 16 points, shooting 50% from the field, while also grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.
Weekes and the Hawks play their final home game of the regular season Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Anna Maria College.

Men's Swimming & Diving
Bristol, R.I. – Freshman Phillip Jacques (Durham, Maine) was named RWU Male Athlete of the Week after posting a first-place finish in three individual events and a relay, helping the Men’s Swimming and Diving Team to their seventh-straight victory, defeating Trinity College (CT) Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks began the meet well as Jacques and his teammates posted a first-place time 3:43.48 in the opening 400-yard Medley Relay. He went on to take first place in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:09.61.
His Backstroke proved strongest of the day as he won both the 50-yard and 200-yard events with times of 25.90 and 2:00.21, respectively. In the end, Jacques helped with 38 team points as the Hawks came away with the 181-115 victory over the Bantams.
Jacques and the team return to the water Feb. 19 for the start of the New England Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt.
