White River Junction, Vt. – The RWU Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams posted strong performances, finishing third and fourth, respectively, at the New England Championships in White River Junction, Vt. Head Coach Julie O'Brien was also honored, earning Men's Swimming Coach of the Year.

WALTHAM, Mass. - Roger Williams University senior Joseph Mello (Seekonk, Mass.) performed well at the NEISDA Championships this weekend held at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. Mello took second on the one-meter board with 412.80 points and third on the three-meter board with 358.45 points.

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Men's Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Hartford, Conn., Saturday to face Trinity College where the Hawks emerged with a 181-115 victory, improving their record to 7-1.

BRISTOL, R.I. - While most of Roger Williams University was moving back into their dorms on Tuesday, the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were busy securing a conference win against Gordon College. The men’s team won by a score of 120-84, and the women defeated Gordon 108-89.

WORCESTER, Mass.- The Roger Williams University Men’s Swimming and Diving team continued their winning streak as they defeated the team from Clark University on Saturday afternoon. The team posted a score of 152 points compared to the hosts who earned 91 points on the day to get the victory.

Athletes of the Week

Women's Basketball
BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University sophomore Ryan Weekes (Worcester, Mass.) of the Women’s Basketball team has been named the RWU Female Athlete of the Week for her excellent performance in all three of the team’s games last week. She recorded 29 points and 25 rebounds on the week, including a double-double on Thursday night.
In their first game at Western New England College Weekes recorded 11 points, five rebounds with five steals and four assists. Weeks and the Hawks then hosted UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday night. She contributed to the win with a double-double, ten points and 12 rebounds. Finally, the team closed out the week against Wentworth Institute of Technology with Weeks contributing eight points and eight rebounds towards the team’s effort.
Weeks and the rest of the Women’s Basketball team return to action Tuesday at home in conference play against Gordon College at 6 p.m. prior to heading to New England College over the weekend.

Wrestling
BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University junior Nick Cambi (Cohasset, Mass.) of the Wrestling team has been named the RWU Male Athlete of the Week for his undefeated performance in their tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 15th. He won his first match against Wesleyan University by a final of 3-1 before posting a 6-1 decision over his opponent from Trinity College.
In the team’s first match versus Wesleyan University the Hawks were trailing 12-3 before Cambi and two other Hawks won their matches to tie the score at 12. In the second match against Trinity College his victory by a final of 6-1 cut their opponent’s lead to only one point. The Hawks would later win the matchup.
Cambi and the rest of the Wrestling team will return to the mat in the New England Division III Dual Meet Championships at Springfield College on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.
