Three sailors named to All-NEISA team

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Roger Williams has had three sailors named to the All- New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s second team.  Senior Andrew Goetting (Point Pleasant, N.J.) and junior Matthew Duggan (Sandwich, Mass.) were named All-NEISA skippers, while junior Kaytlin Hall (Los Angeles, Calif.) was honored as an All-NEISA crew.

The NEISA announcement came one week after all three sailed for Roger Williams at the ICSA Semi-Final regatta hosted by the University of Southern California.  The Hawks took sixth at the event and qualified for coed Nationals to be held in Newport the first week in June.

The awards cap off a hugely successful season for the team.  Goetting and Hall took six top ten finishes in A Division at intersectional events, while Duggan skippered a B Division boat that took eight top five finishes at intersectional events.

Hawks Head Coach Amanda Callahan is proud of her sailors’ accomplishments.  “Andy and Kaytlin have had some really impressive finishes and have been a leading force in practices,” she said.  “And Matt has been a consistent player.  He has had to overcome a change of crew mid-season, and his work on his mental game has helped his performance immensely.”

The sailing team now has four weeks off from competition in order to prepare for Nationals.  The event marks the first time Roger Williams will sail in a coed National event.
