Men's Tennis receives first-ever ITA ranking
BRISTOL, R.I.- The Roger Williams men's tennis team can add another accomplishment to the list for the 2007-08 season: achieving the team's first-ever Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranking. The team was ranked 21st in the April 29 ITA Division III Northeast region rankings. Undoubtedly, the team's impressive performance in The Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs, where they defeated Wentworth and Colby-Sawyer en route to an appearance in the championship match, figured into the rankings. Salve Regina, which defeated Roger Williams to claim the TCCC title, was ranked 15th. "It's great for our team to see where we stand against some of the better teams in New England," Head Coach Chris O'Brien said. "Recruiting-wise, it should help us," he added. The Hawks will return a diferent set of starters for next season, as they lose four players that earned significant playing time. Brad Bolte (Augusta, N.J.), Ryan Fayed (Glastonbury, Conn.), Dan Roberts (Milford, Conn.) and Jay Dono (West Boylston, Mass.) will all graduate later in the month. |
